Who are we making this for?
Persona 1: Jasmine Cardenas
28-year-old Freelance Sustainability Consultant - Working in the Green Industry, looking for a more stable role
Goals
Find meaningful work only within the sustainable clean energy industry, without having to search for specific occupations.
Transition from freelance gigs to a steady role
Frustrations:
Too many general job boards, not too many are curated for sustainability jobs
Doesn’t want to have to search Green companies one by one to see career opportunities
Persona 2: Peter Solanski
48-year-old former Facilities manager at a manufacturing plant, he was unfortunately let go due to company cuts and new automation.
Goals
Find hands-on work within the sustainable clean energy industry, and potentially look for a program to learn new advanced skills.
Easily apply to jobs on a straightforward website
Frustrations:
Doesn’t want to create an account on another site to access opportunities
Newer job websites have too many features and an overwhelming amount of information
This two-page layout was designed to simply view operations happening throughout our site. The Job Search Page allows users to search and browse curated green jobs, view descriptions in a side pop-up, and effectively apply. The About Us Page gives an overview of GreenJobs, and links to its parent company Green Economy Lab.
Information Architecture
The purpose of our GreenJobs landing page was for users to ultimately apply for jobs. With limited features/ pages for the first launch of the website, the user flow went as follows:
User Flow
GreenJobs Lookbook: UI library
The Logo of GreenJobs was previously created. I decided to use the logo as inspiration for the website’s main color scheme. As for the font, I wanted to continue with the idea of familiarity, and used Inter as it is commonly used on a plethora of websites and is easily readable.
The Final Look:
Job Finder Page
The Core of GreenJobs. The main search page for people taking their first steps into the sustainable clean energy industry.
The goal of this page is to create an easy and familiar navigation space for people to explore new hiring positions.
Looking through popular job search sites such as Indeed, Glassdoor, and LinkedIn, we wanted to make sure our site was easy to use and familiar to our users. With this in mind, we decided to continue to follow an industry standard layout of individual box cells on the left with a basic job description, followed by a side pop-up of the entire job description (when clicked).
About us.
Who is GreenJobs? GreenJobs is a subsection of an upcoming larger company called the GreenEconomyLab, a program/ schooling that equips individuals seeking to find an occupational opportunity within clean, sustainable energy fields.
Bringing in the introduction to GreenEconomyLab was a particular focus we wanted to highlight, in cooperation with images of current programs provided by GEL.
